Mike is an experienced entrepreneur and investor with deep sector experience in agribusiness and agricultural commodity trading and merchandising.
Mike spent over 30 years in the grain trade. In addition to his role as a member of the Nash Advisory Board Mike is a non-executive director, significant shareholder and past Chairman of Precision Agriculture Pty Ltd (now Australia’s largest agricultural soil sampling and soil data company having grown 10 x under current ownership since 2015). He co-founded Emerald Grain Pty Ltd (a grain trading, accumulation, storage and export business) in 2004. Emerald grew to be one of the top five grain exporters, accumulators and storage operators in the Australian market, exporting to 35 countries, supported by 1.2 million tonnes of owned storage and employing in excess of 200 staff. Emerald was divested to Sumitomo Corporation in 2014. In partnership with ROC Partners private equity, Mike and associated entities re-acquired the business in 2020. Emerald was sold to Louis Dreyfus Company in 2023. Mike manages his family’s investments across a variety of sectors including start-up and early-stage, commercial property, agribusiness and infrastructure.
Mike was an early co-investor through Nash into Total Drain Cleaning and is invested in a number of Nash opportunities. He is married with three school age children.
